THIS IS NOT A BELATED APRIL FOOL ARTICLEMuslim men in the UAE found it hard to contain their excitement as the annual Camel Beauty Contest got under way in Abu Dhabi. The contest is split between pedigree and dark-skinned camels and all participants must be free from contagious diseases.
The contest has been marred in the past by allegations of vote rigging after several judges were allegedly found to be dating some of the contestants. Although false eyelashes and excessive make-up are actively discouraged, contestants are allowed to show some ankle provided the predominantey male crowd does not work themselves into a sexual frenzy before the bikini section begins.
